Oz is Innovative. Oz is object-oriented. It has robust data definition and class inheritance features that enable the user to create, modify, and delete classes, organize classes into expandable and collapsible hierarchies, create, modify, delete, and instantiate class properties, maintain class instance (object) relationships, etc.
Oz is Interactive. An Oz database is presented to the user as a hierarchical arrangement of user-defined classes of information. The user interacts with these classes in a point-and-click fashion similar to the way that a Microsoft® Window’s user interacts with Windows Explorer. In place of Window’s folder and file names, nodes in the Oz hierarchy represent classes for storing and retrieving data in an Oz database.
Oz is Extendable. Oz supports links to external Microsoft® Windows® applications, media files, and websites. You can link databases, documents, music, pictures, videos, and web pages to classes in the Oz hierarchy. Once specified, these links (called XViews) are easily launched with a single click of the mouse.
Oz is Informative. Oz provides powerful reporting and charting capabilities. OzSearch enables the user to retrieve data from Oz class properties using Query-By-Example (QBE) search criteria. You can publish your application data in HTML for distribution to a web site. You can also perform arithmetic functions to facilitate property “Rollup” through each level of the class hierarchy.
Oz is Flexible. You can move data in and out of an Oz database as you desire. Import data into an Oz class from an ODBC-compliant database. Export Oz classes and their associated property values to an XML file. You can also export class data to Microsoft® Excel® to perform anaysis.
Oz is Secure. Oz provides secure Logon features to password protect your database. Multiple user roles are supported, each with different privileges to Oz functionality. Data access is controlled from the class level down to the class property level.
What database management systems are supported?
The Oz Explorer graphical user interface utilizes Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) to communicate with local and remote Oz databases hosted on Microsoft® Access™ and Microsoft® SQL Server™. MySQL® support will be available soon.
Is Oz a proven technology?
Yes. Oz has evolved after years of research/development and "real world" implementations in U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) organizations. Learn more...
